Wow, I can’t believe how long it’s been since I’ve posted anything here. I guess that’s because more people read my Myspace blog than this one. Anyway, it’s been a busy summer so far. My traveling season has started so I was in Sacramento and Modesto last month. While there, I had dinner with Rich and Heather. Rich is one of Amy’s friends from college, and I first met him a couple of years ago when we went to his wedding. I have been in Sacramento before, but never had any time to walk around. Before I met Rich and Heather for dinner, I walked around the Capital Park. It’s right in the heart of downtown, comprising of 40 acres of lawns, trees, and memorials. It was very nice. I also got a great deal on the new Grand Sheraton hotel through Hotwire. I believe it was $120 for the night.
We went to the Kwik-E-Mart in Oak Park I believe on the second or third day that it was open. Being a huge Simpsons fan, it was definitely cool. We also watched the Simpsons movie last night. It was pretty good, although many of the characters only got in a line or two. There is a scene where Homer goes on a dream journey until he has an epiphany. That was done before in the chili cook-off episode which much greater effect.
My mom came for a visit and got to see how big Emiko is getting. She’s almost able to sit up by herself. What she really wants to do is stand up, though, so we are constantly holding her up to keep her happy. She also has started laughing! Amy was finally able to find a daycare for Emiko, so she’s very relieved. The place is right across the street from La Villa, a neighborhood Italian restaurant that we like going to, and is pretty reasonable at $200/week.
We have lots of upcoming travel this year. I have to go to Tulsa in a few weeks, then back to NorCal to inspect the peaches and fruit cocktail. In November we are going to Shreveport, LA for Amy’s great aunt’s 100th birthday. For Christmas we are going to Los Angeles to visit all the relatives, especially my grandmother and my grandfather as this might be the only time they will get to meet their great granddaughter. If you haven’t met Emiko yet, don’t worry. We’ll hope to visit your town soon!
