Push button, receive bacon!

Emiko Mae was born on Wednesday, February 21st at 1:27am. She was only 34 weeks at the time, so is currently in the NICU for observation. The good news is that she is perfectly healthy. The suck/swallow/breathe reflex isn’t developed until around 34-36 weeks, so she is in the NICU to ensure that she is eating properly. We have been feeding her, although she still hasn’t fully gotten the hang of it. Since we have to get the food in her somehow, whatever she doesn’t take by bottle has to be fed to her through a tube in her nose.

So I’m driving north on the Edens this morning on my way to work. I’m in the left lane and I look over to the median because I see something in my peripheral vision. It’s a coyote, and he’s running alongside my car! Since traffic is only going about 15-20 mph, he soon passes me and keeps on going. All of a sudden he slows down, jumps over the median, and tries to play frogger with oncoming traffic. Sadly, he did not make it to the other side. What a strange sight to start my morning!
