So Amy, her friend Kyle, and I went to a taping of Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me! last night at the Chase Auditorium downtown. We sat in the first row, so perhaps you’ll hear our laughter when it airs this weekend. Anyway, Korva Coleman was filling in for Carl Kasell, and she did a great job. This weeks’ panelists, however, were not quite as good. Adam Felber was the funniest of the bunch, followed by Roxanne Roberts, and Kyrie O’Connor trailed the pack by a large margin. The celebrity guest was Sally Jessy Raphael, who was really funny. Apparently she has a radio show with her family, and they talk about random stuff such as 30 things to do if confronted by a tiger.
Oh, Adam Felber has to redo his joke at the end. His first joke was about a drawing of life coming from primordial soup which annoyed the athiests or something like that. The producer apparently didn’t like the joke so he had to come up with another one. He was stumped, so Peter Sagal suggested he use a version of an old Unitarian joke. I can’t remember exactly how they worded it, but the original joke goes
Q. What happens when the Unitarians get really mad at you?
A. They show up and burn a question mark on your lawn.
The audience clearly preferred the primordial soup joke, so we’ll see which one makes it on the air. (edit - audience: 1, producer: 0)
Anyway, after the taping, we went across the street to eat at Italian Village. A few minutes later, the cast and crew from Wait Wait entered and sat a few tables away from us. After eating, we passed by them and I told them what a good show they had that night. Korva looked appreciative, but Kyle said that Peter Sagal looked kind of annoyed. Oh well. Listen to it this weekend or download the podcast and see if you can hear us!

Ok, here’s the text of our official press release regarding our new and improved SoyBlendz!
Whole Soy-Fruit Smoothies Now Also Fortified with Calcium and Vitamin D
Glenview, Ill. (February 6, 2006)— Carbotrol Foods, the makers of SoyBlendz, announced today their move from glass to PET plastic bottles. The added benefits of plastic for retailers as well as consumers made the switch an easy decision for the minds at SoyBlendz.
SoyBlendz, which is available at SuperTarget Stores and finer food stores nationwide, is the first creamy non-dairy smoothie to deliver the perfect blend of flavor and nutrition. SoyBlendz’ smoothies use the whole soybean, not a “protein isolate,” to capture all of soy’s nutritional benefits, which are known to help reduce the risk of breast cancer, prostate cancer, and heart disease.
“The decision to move from glass to plastic was in response to our retailers need for an easier product to bring in and shelve up,” says SoyBlendz President Gregory Lojkutz. “With this new packaging we are filling a need in the industry for an easier and more transferable unit, while still keeping our dedication to providing the best-tasting, nutritionally-sound products in the industry.”
The new and improved plastic bottles will have more impact resistance and durability than the former glass bottles ensuring less breakage and a lighter load. Moving to plastic also reduced the case weight by roughly 25%.
Along with the new packaging, SoyBlendz smoothies are now fortified with calcium and vitamin D, producing the same nutritional level as whole milk. Whether you’re a parent, student or working professional, packing those extra nutrients in your purse, backpack or briefcase has never been easier.
SoyBlendz fruit and soy protein smoothies are available in 10-ounce bottles in four delicious flavors:
– Mixed Berry Medley
– Mango/Orange Dream
– Orange Citrus Splash
– Strawberry/Banana Blast
MSRP is $1.99. SoyBlendz smoothies do not require refrigeration, but they taste absolutely delicious when chilled.
